# JPG to PDF Converter

JPG to PDF converter that combines images and photos into one PDF directly in your browser: drop the files, put them in order, choose the page size and download. JPEG photos go into the PDF as they are, byte for byte, so nothing is recompressed and the file is not bigger than the photos themselves. PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG and AVIF are stored losslessly or, if you prefer a small file, as JPEG at a quality you choose. EXIF, GPS and other metadata are stripped from every image before it goes in. No upload, no sign up, no limit on the number of images beyond the memory of your device.

## How to convert JPG to PDF and merge images into one file

1. Drag images into the box or click **Browse files**. You can add more later with **Add images**; **Remove all** starts over.
2. Put the images in the order they should appear. Drag a thumbnail, or use **Move up** and **Move down**. **Rotate 90°** turns a photo that is lying on its side, **Remove** drops it from the list.
3. Under **Page settings** choose **Page size** (**Same as image**, **A4**, **Letter** or **A5**), **Orientation**, **Margins** and **Images per page** (1, 2 or 4). The heading above the list shows how many pages the PDF will have.
4. **Image quality** decides what happens to the pixels: **Original (JPEG as is, PNG lossless)** keeps every photo exactly as it came from the camera; **High (JPEG 90)**, **Medium (JPEG 75)** and **Small (JPEG 60)** re-encode everything as JPEG. With **Longest side** you can also scale re-encoded images down to 2500, 1600 or 1000 px.
5. Type a **File name**, press **Create PDF** and, when the size appears, **Download PDF**.

Twenty phone photos of 3 MB each become a PDF of about 60 MB in **Original** mode and about 2 MB with **Small (JPEG 60)** and **1000 px (e-mail)**. The size is shown before you download, so you can try another setting first.

## JPG to PDF without quality loss

Most online converters decode every image and encode it again, which costs quality twice: once when the photo was taken and once more on their server. This tool writes the original JPEG stream straight into the PDF as a DCTDecode object, the way [PDF](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF) has carried JPEG since the format was defined in 1993. The pixels in the PDF are identical to the pixels in the photo, and the file size is the size of the photo plus a few hundred bytes of PDF structure per page. That also makes it fast: a hundred photos are combined in a few seconds, because there is nothing to compute.

Before a JPEG is embedded, its metadata is removed: the EXIF block with camera model, date and GPS position, XMP and IPTC descriptions, and anything a phone appended after the end of the image. The colour profile (ICC) stays, so colours do not shift. Photos taken with the phone held sideways carry an EXIF orientation flag; the converter reads it and rotates the image on the page, so the PDF shows the photo the right way up without re-encoding it. Progressive JPEGs are embedded as they are too. Only rare files, 12-bit JPEG, CMYK JPEG from a print workflow, or a mirrored EXIF orientation, are drawn through the browser’s canvas instead.

PNG and the other formats have no JPEG stream to reuse. In **Original** mode they are stored as uncompressed pixels packed with Flate (the same compression PNG uses), with a separate transparency mask, so a screenshot or a scanned document stays sharp. If you want a smaller file, pick a JPEG quality and the tool re-encodes all images, PNG included; transparent areas become white.

## Page size, margins and several images per page

**Same as image** makes every page exactly as large as its image at 96 pixels per inch, which is what you want for screenshots, scans and photos that should fill the page. **A4** and **A5** are the European paper sizes, **Letter** the North American one; with **Orientation** on **Automatic** each page turns to match its image, and with 2 or 4 images on a page the majority decides. **Margins** are 0, 5 or 15 mm; when there are no margins and several images share a page, a 3 mm gap keeps them apart. Each image is scaled to fit its cell and centred, never cropped or stretched.

**Images per page** set to 2 stacks two images on a portrait page or places them side by side on a landscape one; 4 makes a 2 × 2 grid, handy for a contact sheet of photos, receipts for an expense claim or screenshots for a bug report. The PDF gets the file name as its document title and acrafto.com as producer, nothing else is written into it.

## Photos to PDF on a phone

The same image to PDF converter works on iPhone and Android in the browser: pick the photos from the gallery, order them and download the PDF, which lands in the Files or Downloads folder and can be shared from there. Because the JPEGs are not re-encoded, even a batch of large photos is quick. If a photo is in HEIC, the format iPhones use by default, the browser cannot read it; set the camera to “Most Compatible” or export the photo as JPEG first.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I combine multiple JPG files into one PDF?

Drop all the files into the box at once, or add them in batches with **Add images**. Arrange them by dragging or with the arrow buttons and press **Create PDF**. Each image becomes a page, or set **Images per page** to 2 or 4 to put several on one page.

### Is JPG to PDF free and without sign up?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on files or pages. Everything runs in your browser, so the images never leave your device, and the only limit is the memory of the computer or phone.

### Does converting JPG to PDF reduce the quality?

Not in **Original (JPEG as is, PNG lossless)** mode: the JPEG data is copied into the PDF unchanged, so the pixels are the same as in the photo. Quality only changes when you choose **High (JPEG 90)**, **Medium (JPEG 75)** or **Small (JPEG 60)** to make the file smaller.

### How do I make the PDF smaller?

Choose **Small (JPEG 60)** or **Medium (JPEG 75)** and set **Longest side** to 1600 or 1000 px. A photo from a phone has 12 megapixels, far more than a screen or an A4 page needs; at 1600 px it still prints sharply at A5 and takes about a tenth of the space.

### How do I convert PNG to PDF?

The same way: PNG files are accepted along with JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG and AVIF, and you can mix them in one PDF. In **Original** mode a PNG is stored losslessly with its transparency; with a JPEG quality it is re-encoded and transparent areas become white.

### Are the photos uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is built by JavaScript in your browser and the images are read from your disk only. You can disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and it keeps working. EXIF, GPS and other metadata are removed before an image is written into the PDF.
