Rotate Images Online Free - Photo Rotation Tool

Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIFDid you take a portrait photo, but it displays as landscape on your computer? Or did you capture a beautiful landscape, but the horizon “dips” a few degrees to the right? Don’t despair. Our online image rotation tool will solve all these problems in an instant.
We offer the most comprehensive photo rotation solution on the web. Whether you need to quickly rotate hundreds of vacation photos by 90 degrees, or precisely straighten a scanned document by 1.5 degrees, our editor handles it with ease. All this in bulk, for free, and securely.
Why rotate photos with us?
Most online editors only offer basic left or right rotation. We go further, giving you full control over the geometry of your images.
- Any angle (0–360°): You are not limited to right angles. Enter a precise value (e.g., 23 degrees) for fine-tuning composition or leveling the horizon.
- Batch Processing (Batch Rotation): Have 50 “upside down” photos? Upload them all at once. Our tool will rotate them in a single batch and allow you to download them as a ZIP archive.
- Quality and Format Control: When saving, you can choose the output format (JPG, PNG, WebP) and set the compression using a slider. This way, you can not only rotate images but also reduce their data size directly.
- 100% Privacy: Everything runs in your browser (Client-Side). Your photos are never sent anywhere.
Three ways to make the most of rotation
Our tool isn’t just about fixing mistakes. It’s a powerful aid for photographers and office work alike.
1. Standard Rotation (90°, 180°, 270°)
This is a classic. Phone sensors sometimes fail and save photos in the wrong orientation.
- By 90°: Convert a “landscape” photo to a “portrait” photo and vice versa.
- By 180°: Correct photos that are upside down (common when scanning documents, where the paper is inserted into the scanner incorrectly).
2. Leveling the Horizon (Custom Angle)
You know the feeling – you photograph the sea, but the horizon is crooked. You can’t fix that in a standard browser. With us, just select “Custom Angle” and enter a small value (e.g., 2 or -2 degrees). This will rotate the photo only slightly, visually leveling a falling horizon or crooked building lines.
3. Artistic Tilt (Dutch Angle)
Want to add dynamism to your photo? Deliberately tilting the image (e.g., by 15 degrees) is called a “Dutch Angle” in photography. It’s used to evoke tension or a sense of action. With our slider, you’ll find the right angle instantly.
Guide: How to batch rotate images
- Upload files: Drag photos into your browser window. Our system supports bulk upload, so don’t hesitate to “dump” an entire folder in.
- Set the angle:
- For quick correction, select from presets (e.g., 90° Right).
- For fine-tuning, choose Custom Angle and enter a number or use the arrows.
- Choose output:
- Format: Do you want to keep the original? Or convert PNG to a more efficient WebP? Choose what you need.
- Quality: Use the slider to set compression. 100% means maximum quality, lower values (e.g., 80%) significantly reduce file size with minimal loss of detail.
- Download: Download the processed images individually or all at once in a ZIP package.
Format support and conversion
Our rotator also functions as a smart converter.
- JPG/JPEG: Ideal for photos. When rotating, you can reduce quality to save disk space.
- PNG: Suitable for graphics, screenshots, and images with transparency. If you rotate an image by an angle other than 90°, empty spaces will appear in the corners – PNG format ensures these areas remain transparent (for JPG, they would be white or black).
- WebP: A modern format from Google that offers the same quality as JPG at a smaller size. Ideal if you are preparing photos for websites.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Will rotating the photo reduce its quality?
It depends on the settings. If you rotate by 90 degrees and leave the quality at 100%, the loss is negligible. However, if you rotate by a custom angle (e.g., 45°), the computer must recalculate all pixels (so-called resampling). In this case, we recommend setting the output quality to a high value (90-100%) to keep the image sharp. What happens to empty corners when rotating by a custom angle?
If you rotate a square photo by 45 degrees, a rhombus will be formed, and the image corners will be empty. If you select PNG or WebP as the output format, these corners will be transparent. If you select JPG, the corners will automatically be filled with a color (usually black or white), as JPG does not support transparency. How to straighten a scanned document?
If you inserted the paper into the scanner a bit crooked, the resulting PDF or JPG will be tilted. Upload the scan to us, select "Custom Angle," and try entering very small values, such as0.5 or -1. Visually check if the text has straightened out.
