Calculate your exact age from the date of birth

1. Enter the Date of birth. The page opens with 1 January 2000 as an example.
2. Age on is today by default. Change it to get the age on a specific date, for example the closing date of an application, the first day of a school year or the day of an exam. Today brings it back.
3. The large figure is the age in whole years, followed by the months and days. The rows below give the same age as Months, Weeks and days, Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds, each with its own copy button.

Someone born on 1 January 2000, a Saturday, was 26 years, 9 months and 8 days old on 9 October 2026. That is 321 months and 8 days, or 9,778 days. Hours, minutes and seconds count from midnight at the start of the date of birth, since the time of birth is not entered.

Next birthday and milestones

Under the result, Next birthday shows the date with its weekday, how many days are left and the age on that day. For the example above it is Friday 1 January 2027, in 84 days, turning 27. Add to calendar (.ics) creates an event that repeats every year. The timeline runs from the last birthday to the next one, with a diamond on the chosen date.

Milestones lists round numbers since birth that people like to celebrate or simply notice: 10,000 days (about 27 years and 4 months), 1,000 weeks, 500 months and a billion seconds (31 years and 8 months), among others. The next one is highlighted and the past ones are crossed out. For a person born on 1 January 2000 the 10,000th day is 19 May 2027 and the billionth second arrives on 9 September 2031. Each upcoming milestone can go into your calendar on its own, or all of them at once with Add all upcoming to calendar (.ics).

Born on 29 February

In a common year there is no 29 February, so the birthday falls either on 28 February or on 1 March. Countries and institutions handle it differently, so the calculator lets you choose: for a date of birth on 29 February a choice between 28 February and 1 March (the default) appears. It changes the age on 28 February and the date of the next birthday. Someone born on 29 February 2004 turns 23 on 28 February 2027 under the first rule and on 1 March 2027 under the second. The yearly calendar event follows the rule you picked.

Hijri age, Korean age and other calendars

Other calendars and ways of counting age shows the date of birth in the Hijri calendar (Umm al-Qura, the official calendar of Saudi Arabia), in the Hebrew calendar, in the Japanese era and in the Thai solar calendar. 1 January 2000 is 24 Ramadan 1420 AH, 23 Tevet 5760, Heisei 12 and the year 2543 B.E. A Hijri year has about 354 days, so the age in Hijri years is higher: on 9 October 2026 the person from the example is 26 in Gregorian years but 27 years, 7 months and 4 days in Hijri years.

The same block covers East Asian age reckoning. South Korea has used the international age (만 나이) in law since June 2023, but the year age (연 나이, this year minus the year of birth) still applies to some rules, and the traditional counting age (세는 나이 in Korea, 数え年 in Japan) starts at one and adds a year every New Year. Someone born on 31 December 2000 is 25 on 1 January 2026, 26 by year age and 27 by counting age.

Frequently asked questions

How old am I if I was born in 2000?

It depends on whether you have had your birthday this year. Someone born on 1 January 2000 was 26 on 9 October 2026, while someone born on 31 December 2000 was still 25 that day. Enter the exact date of birth to get the age in years, months and days.

How do I calculate my age on a specific date?

Enter the date of birth and change Age on to the date you need, in the past or in the future. Forms for schools, sports clubs and job applications often ask for the age on a fixed date, such as 1 September or the closing date of the application.

How many days old am I?

The Days row shows it. Someone born on 1 January 2000 was 9,778 days old on 9 October 2026 and will be 10,000 days old on 19 May 2027. The days between dates calculator counts any other period in days.

How is age calculated in months and days?

Whole years and months are counted from the date of birth, so the age goes up on the same day of the month as the birthday. The remaining days are the days since that last monthly date. If a month is shorter than the day of birth, for example for someone born on 31 January, the last day of the month counts instead.

What is my age in Hijri years?

Open Other calendars and ways of counting age. The row Age in Hijri (lunar) years counts the age in the Umm al-Qura calendar, in which a year has 354 or 355 days, so the Hijri age grows by about one extra year for every 33 Gregorian years.

Is my date of birth stored anywhere?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. The date of birth never goes into the address bar, and it is remembered on this device only if you tick Remember my date of birth on this device.
