Random numbers will not help you win. They help you not share.
Every combination has exactly the same chance. Picking 1-2-3-4-5-6 is precisely as likely as any set that “looks random”. No selection method changes the odds.
What selection does change is how many people you split a jackpot with.
Most players choose numbers from birthdays and anniversaries, which means the numbers 1 to 31 are heavily over-picked — and 1 to 12 worst of all, because they are months as well as days. Numbers above 31 appear on far fewer tickets.
The consequence is measurable. When a jackpot is hit with a “calendar” set of numbers, it is far more often split between several winners. A ticket drawn uniformly at random uses the whole range, so if it wins, you are more likely to be the only one holding it.
That is the honest case for a random pick: same chance of winning, better expected payout if you do.

Two things stand out. A second pool of bonus numbers multiplies the difficulty rather than adding to it — EuroJackpot is ten times harder than Sportka mostly because of those two extra balls. And SuperEnalotto, with no bonus pool at all, is still the hardest on the list purely because it draws from 90.
For scale: 1 in 300 million is roughly the chance of picking one specific person out of the entire population of the United States, at random, on the first try.
Popular numbers people avoid
Some players deliberately skip 13, or lucky-number 7, or the previous week’s winning set. None of that changes the odds either — the machine has no memory and no superstition. It only shifts which crowd you would be sharing with.
